William Gallas and Emmanuel Petit are in agreement about Chelsea star N’Golo Kante, with the French midfielder aiming to cap a fantastic club season with glory at Euro 2020.
For some time now, Kante has been recognised as perhaps the top defensive midfielder in the world following his arrival onto the scene with a Premier League-winning campaign with Leicester and subsequent move to Chelsea.
But recently, the 30-year-old’s all-round game is perhaps getting the credit it deserves, and two French former Chelsea stars are in agreement over just how good Kante is.
Petit says that Kante is a player he would have loved to have played alongside, pinpointing the midfielder’s focus and commitment to winning as one of his top qualities.
“I would have loved to play alongside him because everything he is doing on the pitch is based on trust, honesty and always 100% always with the same meaning: win the ball, win the game,” Petit told the Athletic.
“It’s always the same focus. It doesn’t matter if he is not at 100%, it doesn’t matter if he has personal troubles, it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t like a team-mate – he goes on the pitch always with the same simple targets and I love this.”
Gallas, meanwhile, says that Kante is not just the best midfielder in the world, but the best player in the world after winning just about everything possible with Leicester, Chelsea and France.
“Everybody loves N’Golo and it is easy to see why,” Gallas told 101 Great Goals. “For me at the moment he is the best player in the world.
The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.

“I know people will talk about strikers because fans like to see goals and they appreciate attacking players more, but if you look at what N’Golo has done since he arrived in England it is phenomenal.
“He won the league with Leicester, then went to Chelsea and won it there; he has won the Europa League and now the Champions League as well as winning the World Cup with France.
“That is amazing, for me he is the best player in the world.”
