AC Milan eye move for Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech after Fikayo Tomori transfer – but there’s a catch

AC Milan are interested in signing Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Gazzette dello Sport have claimed that Milan want to take Ziyech from Stamford Bridge before the start of next season, despite the Morocco international spending just one campaign in west London.

The 28-year-old played just 23 times for the Blues in the Premier League throughout his debut season in England, where he failed to cement a place in the first-team under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel.

He has shown glimpses of his undeniable talent during his short spell with Chelsea, but reports suggest he could look for a move away with plenty of competition in his position.

The likes of Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic all play in similar positions to Ziyech.

Now, Milan are reportedly keen on bringing the Moroccan to the San Siro and they could repeat a transfer trick that has served them well.

Milan signed Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea in January on loan until the end of the season and are reportedly set to trigger a £25million clause in his deal to bring him to the club on a permanent basis.

Having seen Tomori shine during his time in Italy, reports in Italy are suggesting the club are looking to strike a similar deal with the Blues for Ziyech.

The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.

The playmaker reportedly appeals to Milan because of his “technical flexibility” because he can play either on the wing, or through the middle as a ‘number 10’.

However, there could be a stumbling block in terms of Ziyech’s wages at Stamford Bridge.

Following his move from Ajax last summer, he reportedly brings in more than £5million-per-year in London, which means the Blues could look for Milan to pay the vast majority of that sum – even if it is a loan deal.
